    Coming to Austin, TX

I've always wanted to visit Austin and now work is sending me for some training. I'll be in Austin from Monday Sept 12 through the afternoon of the 16th. Are there any events going on this week? Restaurants with dancers during the week? I've been poking around abda.org. Are there any other sites I should check out?

I'd also like to drop in on a class. I consider myself an advanced beginner. I have some veil experience and a little zill playing. I had a wrist/hand injury over the last year so my zill playing isn't what I'd like it to be. I'm cleared now though and ready to get back to it.

My training and hotel are on the northwest side of town but I will have a rental car.

I'm really looking forward to this trip. :)

    Re: Coming to Austin, TX

Hello hello! Hope you have a good time while you are in Austin! Unfortunately, the best place for Bellydancers is at Alborz Persian cuisine but they only have dancers on Fridays and Saturdays. There's not a lot going on during the week -everything happens on the weekend so I'm sorry to hear you will only be in town during the week! If you were in town on Sunday the 11th, you could come to the Austin Bellydance Organizations 30th B-day bash!

That being said, I would recommend taking a private lesson or two. Z-Helene is the master (mistress) zill player in town. Check her out for zill improvement. There's also Bahaia, Stacey Lizette (who is Suhaila trained), and a whole bunch of other excellent dancers-most of whom are listed on the ABDA website. Glad you checked it out.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm really excited for this trip even though it is work related. I'll poke around the ABDA website a bit more. :D
