Thread: Buying thobes in UAE

I will be travelling to Dubai soon and for sure want to buy myself some new thobe dresses.
Does anyone know about the prices and differnts qualities, ie locally made versus Indian made?
How about any good suggestions of where to go to buy thobes or other dresses?

I've never seen the Indian manufactured thobes that dancers would use for 'khaleeji' for sale in Dubai. I guess you could try in the souq or out at Dragon Mart while you're here.
The thobes the local ladies wear for parties are a different style and quality completely. Check out some of the abaya shops while you're here, its the best fun!

I don't at all want the kind that dancers use, I would like some different and original styles. I understood that there are some beautiful but very pricy ones locally made, and some cheaper versions made in India, is that true? Do you have any ideas about the range of prices?

To see a good range of thobes with a variety of prices head to the Arabian Court area on the lower ground floor of Dubai Mall. For OTT check out Beit al Bahraini and Al Yashmac (I bought my wedding outfit at Yashmac).

I used to buy my Indian made thobes at the souk in Sharjah. But that was years ago, don't know if the shop is still there...
