I've just booked myself a trip to Sharm, and I was wondering if anyone had any info on possible shows to see there. I realise Tito, who used to have a show there, is now too busy teaching to still be performing, but I'm hoping that there are other Oriental dance shows on offer.
I've already done a bit of googling, and found there's a 1001 Nights show, which seems to be a standard tourist excursion type affair. I've also been told about another male dancer there who has a show, Miro, who's on facebook.
I'm hoping some of you world travellers out there in Bhuzland will have some helpful suggestions!

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
There is a free show most evenings in the Old market area of sharm el Sheikh. It is usually Miro who is exactly like Tito with some female dancers backing him.
There is also a show at Alf leila wi Leila which is a Disneyfied set up with a performance area, but some of the shows can be quite nice. Alot of the hotels have dancers and Egyptian themed evenings.. mostly foreign dancers, but again some are very good.
There are also Bedouin Desert evenings which are ok, touristy but a bit of a laugh and some nice entertainment.Last edited by caroline_afifi; 07-16-2012 at 06:32 AM.

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
A friend of mine, Vanessa dances in Sharm El Sheikh...she has two shows, a more traditional one and a "world Dance" show. She is at the Four Seasons, Sonesta and Jolie Ville. Not sure when or what nights. Her Shamadan is awesome!

Haha, I already managed to pm you after reading your blog... But anyways, I am currently working in Sharm with Vanessa's show. So, get in touch and let me know the dates of your trip and the hotel you're staying at and maybe we can organise something! :)

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
Just a word of caution about a place I heard about just last night. It is in Naama Bay and called AliBabba (fancy that) it is a shisha and drinks place on the strip area.
Anyway, they tried to charge 540.00le for 2 drinks and a shisha. The friends I know got away with paying 330.00 (after a long row) which is still unbelievable. It put a dampner on things for them.. you do get this mentality in all resorts but Sharm is booming right now so dont quite understand the need for this level of greed but hey ho.. it happened so thought I would let you know. My brother goes next week, I am interetsed to hear what he will have to say too about prices and attitudes.

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
Gosh, that sounds terrible... but yeah, always make sure you check the small print on the menu (regarding possible taxes to be added to the price, sometimes they add a little extra if they have a show etc.). And always check what the final bill consists of. I haven't had any big problems during my stay here, but sometimes they even try to scam us when we are out with the Egyptians.

If anyone's interested in reading about my holidays, it's all on my Livejournal blog. Admittedly it's mostly about Towel Art, and lounging around getting a tan. But there were *some* dance related items too!

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
Thank you so much for posting your blog.
A couple of months until I go there, but I really enjoyed reading about your adventures and the reviews of the show plus watching the videos. I must say the Cowboy Dance was a strange (but entertaining because of the pants) addition to the show, lol
I will put Alf Leila Wa Leila park on my list of places to visit.
Can I ask what hotel you stayed at? There are so many to choose from Im finding it hard!!Kaylah - Melbourne, Australia www.kaylahdancer.com

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
Hi Kaylah
I was staying at the Luna Sharm.
..:: Hotel Luna Sharm El-Sheikh ::..
It was an interesting experience, because it had guests of all different nationalities. The staff were friendly and very helpful (although that's pretty much a national trait of Egyptians
) and it was clean and comfortable. It's Egyptian 4 star (the best hotel in Sharm is 7 star- read into that what you will). It's not far from the Old Market, you could probably walk it if you wanted to, but I always feel it's fair to share my money around, by taking taxis when I'm in Egypt- they're really cheap.

Re: Shows in Sharm el Sheikh?
Definately contact Vanessa, when you are there! She or Iris (Estonian dancer) will know places where they have dancing etc..
Or if you are looking for some private classes!
