Thread: one week or more ???

I am going on an organized trip to cairo next year, and it's one week long. I have a dilemma, because I don't want to be a pain for the organiser, but was thinking of staying 2 weeks - either the week before or after the organised trip.

What would bhuz do? Or maybe 1 week is enough .... hmmmm.....

Stay as long as you can! I would stay the week after. This gives you time to adjust and find the appropriate contacts.

won't it take at least a week just to shop ;)

What Amity and Sabrina said!!! One week is NOT enough. Neither is 2 weeks, but if that's all you can do, stay for a week after the tour. As Sabrina said, it takes at least a week just to shop!..l;,

One good thing about going for two weeks is that it gives you enough time to order a custom costume at the BEGINNING of your trip and have it be ready by the time you're ready to return home!

Are you just going to cairo or outside ?

Cairo drives me nuts after 5 days because of all the noise and pollution, i go to all the shows i can possibly see in 1 week , then go to classes+ shopping in the day .then i escape somewhere in the desert.

but if you want to go sightseeing because it is your first time there 2 weeks is much better.

I'd go for 2 weeks and take the week after. Your organiser can probably help you arrange things too.

One week is never enough . . . after two weeks of rushing around like a maniac I am ready to come home, but 3 weeks would be better if you want to travel outside of Cairo.

First week for Cairo . . .order custom costume(s), take dance classes, see shows. THEN go take a Nile cruise (Aswan to Luxor) and check out Sharm or Hurghada or Alexandria . . . come back to Cairo for a 3rd week to get the final fittings, do the last minute shopping (just in case you didn't find enough in the other tourist traps, hehe), pickup of the finished costume(s), see more shows, take more dance classes.

I definitely recommend more than one week! I live here six months of the year and I still never finish everything I want to before I travel back to the States! The above recommended plan by cbarros is great...!
