    Nile Group new venue!

    Hi all

I have just received an email from the nile group organisers saying that the June fest will now be held at the Pyramisa Hotel in Dokki as the Movenpick was too small.
I'm sure the Pyramisa is in a better location and is nice enough, but i had a look at the photo of the pool and ..c:: well it's tiny! And it looks like it is on the roof!!!

Has anyone heard about the change of venue, stayed at the Pyramisa etc?

    Thanks
    Julie

I have not checked out the Pyramisa in Dokki, but it`s a sooo welcomed change since at least for me those hotels sooo far out flunged at Giza are not at all a plus I would feel much more willing to stay in a hotel in Cairo than Giza.

    OMG I have double feelings.
I'm so used to Movempick and love it, and feel confortable and I'm sure gonna miss my friends around (the Pyramids and Giza I mean lol) but heyyyyy YES we are gonna be closer to Cairo, cause going there was a 2 hour road when traffic was on !!!
And yes, at the last festival (April 2007) Movempic was too small, I booked the last double room for the extra greeks that wanted to come, and 4 of them stayed at the end out of the hotel, because there werent any rooms left.
Hurrayyyyyyyyy for a new start at Pyramiss !!!

    Maria Aya..g.:

p.s. dont mind the pool thing anyway !! I'm so dead from workshops that if I go to the pool i'm gonna be at the bottom tired lol

Ouch, was that a torching? I don't go to Egypt for the pool! I have been there 3 times before and never dipped even my little toe in! It was just an observation. I go there for all the 'right' reasons.
One of the girls coming with me on this tour is a total sun worshipper so she is gonna be seriously p*#$ed.
I agree one doesn't go there to hang by the pool, so hopefully she will get sidetracked by the experience of Egypt and forget the pool.
Being closer to the city is definately a plus though so i hope it works out.
    Cheers

Actually Dokki is still under Giza Governorate, so technically you still be in Giza. Just trivial information.

I used to live just same block with Pyramisa Hotel and it's great place to go anywhere in Cairo. Metro is so GREAT! Use it, if you can!

Omg I've been IN metro with Outi and was an experience lol
Keep in mind that there are seperate wagons for the women (its the last wagon at the train) and at the begining I was thinking.. hmm.. these people seperate women etc, but was so happy that I was not packed in the wagon with 100 arab men, and was with women, and kids and babies.

    heyyyyy thats gonna be great
I'm gonna be but not all days this time (luck of time) I'm gonna be from Wednesday probably till Sunday ofcourse, and maybe stay some more days to catch up Morocco and the gang..g.:

Till now seems I'm going alone (as the addicted person i am lol), cause June is the worst time for Greece, end of schools/exams/shows with dance schools.
    I'll do my dance school show earlier (end of May) and my daughter is 17 so I can escape ,r:;

But for November till now seems we are gonna be something like 20 crazy greeks lol

    maria aya

look for me also cause at festival's i'm so dizzy with lessons, and over excited that i forget things

    The Pyramisa is in a great location I'm staying there first week of June so will give a review on amenities on my return. Top deal flights week B&B £400 , will be interesting to see what happens as it is just round the corner from Raqia and I will be in Emans every morning such fun,r:;

The cars for women in metro (underground) are the FIRST ones. Before 6 pm. the first two cars and after that only one. In rush hour they are much nicer as the cars tend to be VERY packed. Some times there is no room for keep ones hands down in normal cars (the ones including men). In rush hours metro is much faster than cars and taxis. And often more comfortable too.

I will sure take good note of that practical info,Outi Those of us travelling by ourselves need this to know this practicalities in such a conservative city like Cairo.

Does anyone know if you can go to this event for a day? I am organising a Bellydance Holiday to Luxor, Egypt, and only wanted to go to cairo for a daytrip, with Pyramids in the morning, KhanAlKhalili in the afternoon and go to this event late afternoon/ all evening. What do you think?

    best wishes

    A day trip!!!!!!:tounge:
    You must be on Turbo!
When you say event do you mean the evening party or a workshop?
I'm sure you can do either for a day.
There are plenty of people who go to the fest and don't stay at the hotel. I'm not sure how much the parties cost though if you are not participating in workshops.
Someone told me you have to do atleast 4 workshops to go to the evening galas for free. Can someone who has been confirm this?
I am wondering as in our group we have 2 non-dancers accompanying their friends/partners. I assumed they could come to the events too, as there is no mention of minimum participation on the nilegroup website.

    Cheers

Yup.I was informed of that on last April Nile Fest.It was not a bellydance vacation for me and i was only taking the Aida Nour worshop since all the rest were to specific for my bdance experience, and i asked if i could attend any of the shows(opening gala or the closing)even if i had to pay any of those two. They told me those were only for people taking more than 4 workshops.,f::

Well that bites! I will have to do some smooth talking. Perhaps we can book some of our workshops in their names?
    Thanks for the info

The bellydance holidays I organise are at a much more leisurely pace really, in Luxor. The daytrip involves an internal flight from Luxor to Cairo 8am, go to Pyramids 10am to noon, and then off to the city centre, so the group could attend one or 2 workshops organised by the Nile Fest. Other than that, are there any reasonably priced, good teachers that may not be going to the Nile Fest, that I could approach about doing a one-off workshop?? It's not vital, because the ladies will be having lessons in Luxor on the other 6 days anyway, but would be nice.
    Thanks for your replies ladies,

    Penny

    Hi there
The opening gala and the closing gala are free for the people that live at the hotel, regarding the number of workshops, or you have to book at least 7 workshops (and not living at the hotel) to attend both opening and closing gala (so I guess 4 workshops is the amount for each gala).

Since you have a trip already come for a day, to live the atmosfair of the festival, its great

Ok only a few weeks to go now until the fest. Who else will be there?
We have VERY limited opportunities here to dance with a full orchestra so i am thinking of dancing on the night of the dance party (which just so happen to be my birthday, yay). Just have to choose a song.
I look forward to meeting some of you.

    Cheers

Be certain when making your Pyramisa reservation that you request/demand a 'private' bathroom. Some rooms have a shared bathroom, much like what is called a Jack-&-Jill arrangement in the US. I was most surprised to open the door and see a man in what I presumed was our private bathrrom. The front desk seemed to find it quite entertaining since I obviously did not request a private bathroom. We were not part of a group. We found other lodging the next morning. Other than a B&B that was a new experience for us. (I have not returned to the Pyramisa since the 2000 trip so it might have changed.)
