Thread: Ahlan Wa Sahlan summer 2008

Raqia Hassan hasn't posted it on her website yet, but it apparently the Mena House will have renovations completed enough to host Ahlan Wa Sahlan again this year! Yay! Oberoi Hotels & Resorts:Mena House: Welcome
There is a limited number of rooms available at the Mena house however. Scheherezade Imports Tour Egypt only has 3 rooms left in their allotment. Lucy is extremely helpful and she and her staff are really dedicated to help you get the most of your trip.
The festival agency also only has a limited number of rooms; which are higher cost pyramid views or palace rooms. Other hotel options offered through the agency are the Meridian, Sofitel or Grand Pyramid. I don't know how close they are to the festival. Maybe someone here does and can post?

Great to hear that it's at the Mena House! I talked with Raqia this morning to confirm that I'm teaching zills again this year (I am, yaaaay!) and she said she's not currently able to update the festival web page nor send or receive email because of a problem with internet access. Stay tuned for her website to be updated. You can always contact the tour agency through the website. The Sofitel Pyramids is very close to the Mena House, but I don't remember how close. Taxis are cheap enough even from one 5-star hotel to another and it may be walkable. Don't know about the other two.

We depart June 22 and return is either July 4 or July 9 (if you want to cruise down the Nile to Luxor and Aswan to visit the tombs and temples).

We were very fortunate that our group has been alloted an extra room in the completely sold out Mena House for the festival. Please don't delay if you are considering joining us. Our early bird discounted rates disappear after April 15, 2008.
