    Tribal Rootz- very iffy.

I've had a lot of issues with Tribal Rootz. I ordered from them in the summer for a costume I needed for a Halloween show on Nov 1, knowing that there was a waiting list.
I was told the costume was sent out near the beginning of september, and I waited and waited and never got it. Rosalie, the woman behind Tribal Rootz, apologized and said it was her fault and that she didn't use a tracking number, and that she'd send a new one asap. I think she was lying and that she'd never sent it, but printed off the mailing slip early, so I'd think that it was on its way.
When the costume finally came it was not the size I ordered, it was GIGANTIC. I emailed her saying it didn't fit but I liked the style, plus a few changes I'd like.
She graciously said she'd redo it, I gave her my sizes again.
I told a friend about her costumes and she ordered one as well, since we both needed tribal costumes for the Halloween show. Said friend ordered the costume rush, since she ordered beginning of Oct/Late Sept. It took about two weeks for the costume to get to her since the email notification of "expect your package for mailing," so that's more proof that Rosalie prints it off way before she mails it, since the mailing should take 3-5 days. I waited and waited for my costume, and it didn't get to me in time. I emailed her many times in the weeks/days before hand asking how it was coming, and got a notification to expect it for mailing, along with a tracking number. Every time I tried to access info on the tracking number, no information was available, not even that the post office had accepted the package and was processing it. Again, she printed the slip FAR before she actually shipped it. I didn't get my costume in time, which was the whole reason I'd ordered it (MONTHS previously) and was very disappointed. She gave me a partial refund, since, eventually a week after the show, I did receive it in the mail.
The quality is so-so but the price is fairly good, since I don't do tribal a lot and didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a costume.
I won't go to her again, and though she was gracious with the return/partial refund, I think that she lied about the status and didn't have it finished in time, which was a huge disappointment.
She's a good place to go if you have no sewing skills and want a cheap tribal costume, but don't have any expectations and make sure to order it years in advance!!!

    Re: Tribal Rootz- very iffy.

    Hi Bhuz Community,

I have also ordered from Tribal Rootz, and my experience is okay. However, I would like to say that Rosalie does offer good service despite the long wait.

Similar to shimmytwin, I had to wait awhile to get the costume. I ordered 1 1/2 month ahead of time, as I knew the waiting list was long. I did receive the costume before the performance date (barely), but the costume was semi-completed. Her metal fringe supplier did not come through for her so there was no metal fringe. She gave me an extra pendant as well. She also called me to apologize and we also chatted a bit. I really appreciated that she informed me via phone.

However, I did not wear the costume because the bra style was not right for my body type. Even though it was my mistake, she agreed to redo my bra once I sent the costume back at no extra charge, even though it was practically like sewing a new one.

I finally received the new and improved costume in about another month or so after I placed the initial order (so total wait is about 3 months). The quality of the costume is above average. It has a nice look and it fit great and looks great on me ,r:;, so I'm happy with it.

I later contacted Rosalie about buying metal fringe from her because I couldn't find it online anywhere, and she sent me some free of charge! I thought that was very nice of her even though I offered to pay for it.

At the end of the day, if one is willing to wait 1 month or 2 for an affordable tribal costume, I would recommend Tribal Rootz because I feel she does value her customers. I believe she is a one woman show, so I understand the wait. I assume that she is constantly swamped with orders because of her competitive pricing. On the other hand, I really hope she can find a way to complete her orders faster, but I guess that's the life of a seamstress.

    Thanks for reading!
