I did a search on this here and did not come up with anything so I thought that I would start a new thread.
Does Bhuz has a return policy sales final policy or is that pretty much established by the seller?
I try to be as accurate as possible in answering questions and posting descriptions. I would like to be flexible in case I make a mistake in the listing but I get bummed out when the buyer makes up some excuse to return. I then feel obligated to return because I don't want them unhappy about thier purchase (even if the description was accurate).
Lately I have said "sales final" because of this.
I would like to see the policies of experienced sellers and any other feedback about this issue.
Thanks for your time :)

Return sales policies are established by the seller - stating that sales are final in your post is good, and trying to be as accurate as possible in your post is also good, so it sounds like you are doing things right.
I understand the need to balance relationships and keep buyers happy, but if someone wanted to return something that doesn't fit, I'd nicely say no. If it was something like, "You didn't reveal that the skirt has a 2 foot long gash in the back and a giant blood stain (!), " then I'd consider taking the item back.
I've never returned something or been asked to return something from the swap board.

All sales are final unless otherwise communicated between you and the seller/buyer.

I have been asked to return and I have not been involved in the swap board for that long. I did return because I did not explicitly state that the sale was final although my description was accurate (they claimed otherwise). Its good to know what the general policy is.

Re: Return or sales final policy here on Bhuz? Feedback is needed.
I think there are people on here who do take advantage of others on here. I am saying maybe less than a handful. I have had good experiences so far buying and selling. But there are those who try to get over and this has been posted and noted on threads. If there is a detailed descrip. and pics, and measurements then I don't think a buyer should ask for a refund or return especially considering that the swapmeet is consisted of bhuzzers who are not stores. Posting Final sale and no refunds will help deter those who want to scam you. Not saying that those who wish to return don't have a good reason but make sure what you are claiming is accurate and you have proof.

Re: Return or sales final policy here on Bhuz? Feedback is needed.
I try to be not only accurate but thorough in describing, including damage, wear or alterations from the costume's original state. If someone wants to return because of something I had already stated, I would say no. If I really missed something or made a mistake, I would say yes, though I try real hard not to let it come to that in the first place.
On the other side of the fence, sellers can be perfectly accurate in what they do say but fail to disclose something the buyer will really care about. The buyer can't necessarily be faulted for not asking the right question. A friend bought a costume through Bhuz that looked great in photos but in person proved to be visibly filthy with pilled fabric and a frayed hemline. The burden should not have been on her to ask the right questions to find out the costume was in this condition. I also remember a thread about a costume with armbands that had been coated on the inside with some kind of sticky goo in an attempt to keep them from sliding down the dancer's arms. The buyer never guessed she needed to ask, "Has any sticky goo been added to this costume in places we can't see?"
So "final sale" yes, but only when accompanied by full disclosure.

Re: Return or sales final policy here on Bhuz? Feedback is needed.
As a buyer on the swap, I pretty much assume the sale is final. I always realize in the back of my mind that once I buy it, I'm pretty much stuck with it.
I usually just repost the item for sale again if it doesn't work out for me. I have never asked for a refund . . . just resold the item myself. That's just the risk you take when you buy online . . . I mean, we are saving money here by buying used. Duh . . . it's not going to be in perfect condition . . .
It's just one of those things . . .
As a seller . . . I also assume all sales final. I have seen my items relisted to sell because the item did not workout for the buyer for whatever reason. I've never been asked for a refund. I think most of us here on bhuz realize that sales are final, and if it doesn't work for you . . . your only option is to resale it . . . . that's just how it is.

Re: Return or sales final policy here on Bhuz? Feedback is needed.
I've never had a problem with reselling anything on the swap except for my very first experience. I have received costumes that just didn't fit me or we weren't a good match so I go right ahead and resell. There is no point getting in a fight with someone about sizing issues unless it's severely misrepresented.
My very first experience on the swap went that way and really turned me off to buying/selling here in the beginning. I have since had nothing but good experiences and it seems like everyone else does too and are not afraid of reselling something if it doesn't work for them.

Zepora summed it up nicely.
I believe I'm the person Rosette referred to about a costume in horrible condition. It was quite upsetting at the time - I had paid $350 it was a top brand - but I also believe that when you buy used you are taking a calculated risk. I did not ask for a refund and about a year later I gave the costume to a friend who had never owned a "pro" costume, she was thrilled and so the bad vibes became good vibes. This was unusual for Bhuz - I have been thrilled with most of my purchases.Last edited by Surida; 03-11-2010 at 10:10 AM.

Re: Return or sales final policy here on Bhuz? Feedback is needed.
It sounds as if you're asking whether BHUZ has an official policy? I don't think the admin(s) of BHUZ involve themselves in private transactions between sellers and buyers. BHUZ provides the forum space and sets policy as to what the space is for (i.e. Swap Meet is for private sellers; retailers should post on the retail swap meet or buy ad space), but as I understand it, does not dictate the terms of sale. That would be like a newspaper dictating the terms of a sale done through a classified ad. It's not the newspaper's responsibility, nor is it BHUZ's responsibility, to intervene in sales that result from such postings.
That said, I've had mostly good experiences as a buyer. (I've never been a seller). In fact, I find most sellers go above and beyond my expectations, keeping me informed about shipping, tucking in a little extra item in the package, etc. But even if that were not the case, as a buyer, I know that I'm taking a risk buying used online, and I don't expect the seller to offer refunds. If I felt that an item had been seriously misrepresented, I might discuss it with the seller, or I might simply make note of it and never deal with that person again. The same would be true in reverse, if I were to sell.
