Thread: Turqoise International is CHEAP/Cheated me! GRR- warning

My parents bought me a khaleegy thobe for 159$ on the site for Christmas.
When I got it, I just had to look at it to realize it wasn't what I wanted. It was way too light for Khaleegi dance, and just looked way too cheap.. plus it was a too short for me, there was no drag. They returned it and TI sent them an email back saying they were unable to refund them because the dress was damaged (never used it, only tried on once.) My parents argued about it because they knew it wasn't damaged and they emailed a picture w/ a few circles highlighting a few spots where A sequin was missing. It was in the same condition it came in, it was just a cheap khaleegy dress... and they totally cheated them for the money.
I will never buy from them again, and I hope you all support a more honest and ethical business.

thankfully I got a really awesome HIGH quality well-weighted thobe from my teacher... and she gets hers from Jewel of India... you might have to email him to get his thobe availability- but that's the only place I'd buy a thobe from... just a warning on TI

did they at least send you the throbe back? or are they keeping the throbe and your money?

we'll see what happens.... I hope to get the thobe back and try and sell it for something.

It's just the ethics of it that really dissapoint me. thought I'd warn others.

I recommend trying to resolve this through a phone call, not email.

Based on my interactions with the owner, Ali, I am surprised to read that he would treat a customer that way, all my experiences with him have been very positive and I have the impression that he really cares and tries very hard to maintain his reputation. I would give him the chance to make this right.

I've had several dealings with Turquoise, and they have been overwhelmingly positive-I have actually been very impressed with them. I hope this is resolved.

I had no issues dealing with them either...

Perhaps somewhere along the way the costume got banged up/snagged in transport and they haven't looked into that? I agree, I'd call instead and clarify.

Its been about 3 years since I ordered from TI but I used to place 3-5 wholesale orders per year from them for zills and hip scarves. I have always felt like their products and service were superior quality. I only stopped ordering b/c my business dropped off. I actually thing they have some of the best wholesale coin and bead hip sashes. they are ore expensive but superior quality. I've never seen their thobes. sorry your experience is rocky.

I would also recommend a phone call. I would consider Ali to be fair with his customers and merchandise.... I have a khaleegy thobe from him, my very first gift from my husband... he knows a thing or two about belly dance and folklore dances, and he handpicked the thobe for me himself.... and I love it. It is lighter, but I think more beautifully decorated than most khaleegy thobes out there.
