Thread: very proud of both my troupes

I am super proud of both of my troupes...µ

this is raks pro... (www.rakspro.com). the result of an afternoon brainstorm when i was trying to redirect excess energy into dreams... ;-) and a lot of "well, why nots!" Belgium's first professional dance ensemble was born. I invited all my favourite local dancers, and me and Khalida coached them all summer.

This particular choreography is by Razia, also occasionally on bhuz. it was fantastic material to work with, so we entered it onto leyla's competition. thank you razia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have two more international gigs in the coming half year, and this summer me and queenie will coach them for our new repertoire for next year.





and this here is... the a-team, my student troupe. super proud of them also! the full troupe is more than a dozen dancers strong, so as soon as i have a video of that, including allll the girls i'll post that too. they worked very very hard, as some had little to no stage experience, and they co-created the choreography with me, filling in blanks with their own ideas and impro's. i'm also looking forward to keep on working with them... these girls let me throw anything at them, and i'm amazed at their spirit and creativity every single week.

The formation at 2.36 in your a-team video is just brilliant. Well, it's all very good but I said "wow" out loud right there. You seem to have some very clever and nice students and collegues!

Fun stuff--You can tell it's a good time for all, not some "I have to do this move now" choreography. Congrats!!

Thank you. I love doing formations and love making choreo, or working on someone elses material, for large groupes! I also loved coaching dancers in learning to dance as a group as one body and communicate that way. I am trying to develop workshops into that now and ways of doing that with dancers who are not my own weekly students.
And i keep learning. My big dream is to one day make a full 1,5 hour stage production with dancers like this, wher one dance seamlesly becomes the next and some sort of theme or story line. And I am also working on developing sets with a big-ish group for commercial and corporate events.

And it is just so much fun. I prefer it to working on stuff only for me.

This is just the beginning, lol! Will post our other dances too.

And I love being in the A-team :D Always looking forward to class every week & seeing what you'll make us do next ;)

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed watching both performances. You have every reason to be proud of all of those lovely ladies. The stage dynamics were fantastic, the choreography was very fun and it was clear that each and every dancer was enjoying herself.

Where's the zagareet button? Fantastic performances by both troupes, you can all very proud Artemisia, particularly the student troupe, if they had were any stage nerves they certainly didn't show.
