I've been jonesin' to see some new and interesting belly dance clips and just randomly searching tends to be less than fruitful.
So I thought, time for a fun new thread - pick you current favorite video of yourself and a favorite inspiration video of another dancer (not yourself) that you really like.
I'll start. hmmmm... actually... this afternoon I will post my picks. I'm having a hard time choosing just now. But feel free to post your picks. I'm excited to see what everyone chooses.
:-)

Re: Sharing Time - Post one of you & one of your inspirations
One of my really big inspirations has been Leila of Cairo. She's also a tall, lanky dancer and it's so nice to see that the Egyptian style can work with this body type.
Here is my most recent video and one that I'm quite pleased with. I've come a long way from bounding all over the stage with helicopter hands.

What a great thread! I love it when you Bhuzzers post videos of yourselves, I've found a lot of great new dancers to watch.
OK <gulp> I'll go ....
Fifi Abdo is one of my all-time favorite dancers, idol and inspiration. Here she is in one of my favorite clips:
And me trying to channel her spirit -- looking nothing like her but having a lot of fun!

Re: Sharing Time - Post one of you & one of your inspirations
okay! Yay! another one joined the fun. Okay, here are my picks for today.
A dancer who inspires me dancing in a way only she can pull off to one of my favorite pieces of music.
Mona Said dancing to Lessa Faker:

and not directly inspired by Mona in any way, but my most recent performance, so therefore the most currently interesting to me,
Me dancing to Andah Aleik:

okay, post more. I'm loving this so far. :-)Shems - www.shemsdance.com

Re: Sharing Time - Post one of you & one of your inspirations
Great thread idea^^ I love a lot of dancers, maybe my favorites are the classical; Samia Gamal, Taheya Karioka, Soheir Zaki, Naima Akef, Nagwa Foad...all!! all of them have something I want for me...I love dancers like Dina or Soraia Zaied too...
One day one egyptian man in the local I work said (in arabic, my lessons are useful!!!!) that I look as Nagwa Foad (maybe one of the most beautiful compliments I´ve heard *_*)
Well, here one of my inspirations (only one of them all, I love this video)
And here my last video in youtube

Re: Sharing Time - Post one of you & one of your inspirations
OK please go easy on me for I am not a seasoned pro like so many of you!
I've danced on stage in full costume at various events over the years, but somehow or other I've never managed to get a decent video out of any of those performances. A couple of years ago some of my non-BD friends asked to see a clip of me dancing so I recorded this video in my living room (feeling totally dorky performing for a camera with no one else around). It remains the only video I have available to share at this time. I hope to change that before long, though.

It was about a year after I recorded the video that I ran into this video of Hayatem and recognized the exact sense of style and natural ease that I hold as an ideal. I know I am nowhere near as good a dancer (that would be a goal), but I think I'm capable of radiating a similar energy - and hey, we share the same taste in dresses (give or take a few paillettes)!

I love dancing. I think it's better to dance than to march through life. ~Yoko Ono
