For those who may be interested, you can get this movie on DVD with English subtitles. It's basically a "dump to DVD" of the VHS version, but still good if you want to see the movie.

I bought mine from enter.html and another web site where I've seen it is Arabic DVD . I think Aramovies calls it "Love of a Lifetime".

This is the first movie in which Samia Gamal and Farid al-Atrash appeared as co-stars. (Farid had arranged for Samia to be an extra in an earlier movie, but that was a teeny role, just an extra.) Habib el Omr was released in 1947. Samia Gamal and Farid al-Atrash were coworkers at Badia Masabni's club, and their romance had already begun. Their onscreen chemistry was so strong in this movie that it led to 5 more movies being made with the two of them as co-stars.

Many people don't know that Farid al-Atrash was not only a singer and songwriter, but also an oud virtuoso. This movie offers an opportunity to see/hear him play the oud.

Also appearing in this movie is Ismail Yassin, as one of the musician friends of Farid al-Atrash's character. He was already a very well-established comedian by then, and had appeared in at least 5 previous movies.
