Thread: The dancer and the cowgirl.

These clips are from the 1962 film 'Malek el Petrol' (Petrol King) This film was written by Abo El Seoud El Ebiary starred Ismail Yassine as a vet who moves his practice back to the countryside to live on a piece of land he owns. He falls in love with the daughter of his neighbour and asks for her hand in marriage. Her father agrees to their engagement, on the condition that Houssana hands over his land which the father believes has oil under it. However, testing shows there's no oil so the father breaks the engagement. Later on after oil is discovered in Houssana's land, the father agrees to the marriage, and then he proposes to Hassouna's sister. Happy every after!



The dancer in the next clip from the same film is Gawahir.

You're welcome. Though Nelly was a fine Oriental dancer, most of her film parts were character dances like the one you found. Meissoun was able to attend one of her workshops and knows more about her.

Thanks, I'll follow up with Meissoun. Thanks to a YT'er, the first dancer in the clip has been IDed as Naemat Mokhtar, the queen of the backbends.

After some detective work, it looks like the first clip in this thread was attached to the wrong title. It should be "Ibn Hamido," not "Malek el Petrol." السينما - ابن حميدو - فيلم - 1957, or below...
